Privacy

We keep as little about you as we can to make and deliver your files. We don't use cookies, advertising or outside analytics services, and we don't sell or share your information for marketing.

What we keep

• Your order: your email address, the name you give the map or plaque, its settings (the area, size and options you chose) and the price. We use these to build your files, email you about your order and answer questions about it.
• Your files and previews: the files we make for you, and the previews you build while trying settings.
• Feedback you send us through the Feedback form.
• Emails you send us, at hello@terratinker.xyz or any other address of ours. We keep a copy for 90 days and read them in our Gmail inbox.
• Visit counts: when you open a page we note the page, the site that linked you here, any campaign tags in the link, your country and city as our hosting provider works them out from your network address, and whether you're on a phone, tablet or computer. Instead of your address we keep a scrambled code made from it and your browser with a secret that changes every day and is deleted after two days, so we can count you once a day but can't recognise you on another day. If you place an order, it carries that day's code, so we can tell which links bring orders. We use this only to see how people find the site.
• Your network address, briefly, to stop any one visitor from overloading the site. We keep only a scrambled (hashed) form of it, and only for a short time.

In your browser

The map maker and plaque maker remember the order numbers of the orders you place in that browser (in its local storage), so the "Your maps" and "Your plaques" pages can list them. This stays on your device; clearing your browser's site data removes it.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe, the merchant of record for your purchase. You enter your card details on Stripe's page, not ours, and we never see them. Stripe tells us whether you've paid, the amount, and the details it needs for tax and receipts. Stripe's use of your information is covered by the Stripe privacy policy.

Who else handles it

The site runs on Amazon Web Services in the United States, which stores the information above and sends our order emails for us. Emails you send us are passed on to Google's Gmail, where we read them. No one else receives your information from us, unless the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep orders and their files so you can download them again and so we have the records that tax and accounting rules require. Previews that never became an order may be deleted at any time.

Your choices

Email hello@terratinker.xyz to get a copy of what we keep about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. We'll delete your files and your email address from your orders, keeping only the payment records we're required to keep.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top.
