Terra Tinkering

Terms

Last updated October 29, 2026

These terms cover using terratinker.xyz, including the map maker and the plaque maker, and the print files you buy there. By placing an order you agree to them. Questions: hello@terratinker.xyz.

What you buy

Each order is a set of digital files made to your settings: STL files for each piece, a 3MF file, and print notes. Nothing physical is shipped; you print the files yourself. We start building your files as soon as your payment goes through, and we email you a link when they're ready, usually within a few minutes.

Your download link keeps working for at least 30 days after your order. Save the files somewhere of your own; if a link stops working, email us and we'll send them again when we can.

Prices and payment

Prices are shown in US dollars before you pay. Payments are processed by Stripe, which acts as the merchant of record for your purchase: your card is charged by Stripe, your receipt comes from Stripe, and Stripe adds and pays any sales tax or VAT that applies where you live, shown on the payment page before you pay. We never see or store your card details.

Refunds

If the files fail to build, won't open or print, or don't match your preview, we fix them or refund you. The refund policy has the details.

How you can use the files

The text you enter (map names, plaque messages) is yours; please don't use it to infringe anyone else's rights.

The elevation data

Maps are made from public elevation data: the USGS 3D Elevation Program in the United States, and the Copernicus DEM elsewhere. In the Copernicus data, buildings and trees can add a few metres to the ground. Elevation data has errors and gaps, and a printed model simplifies the land further, so maps are for display and enjoyment, not for navigation, engineering or safety decisions.

Maps made from Copernicus data are produced using Copernicus WorldDEM-30 © DLR e.V. 2010-2014 and © Airbus Defence and Space GmbH 2014-2018 provided under COPERNICUS by the European Union and ESA; all rights reserved. The organisations in charge of the Copernicus programme by law or by delegation do not incur any liability for any use of the Copernicus WorldDEM-30.

Using the site

Please don't try to get files without paying, overload the site, or get around its limits. We may limit or refuse use that does. Previews are free and may be lower in detail than the files you buy.

Our responsibility

We work to make files that print well, but 3D printing depends on your printer, materials and settings, and we can't guarantee a particular result. As far as the law allows, the site and files are provided as they are, and our total responsibility for any order is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the consumer law where you live.

Changes

We may update these terms; the date at the top shows when. The terms in place when you ordered apply to that order.
